Happy Darwin’s Birthday!

Today is the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birthday. I admire Darwin for spending his life gathering evidence for his theory of evolution.  I do think it’s a shame that he grew apart from the church and found himself doubting God as he got deeper into his theory.

I think it’s entirely possible to believe in God and accept evolution.  Let me be clear, since it’s not clear to most of the general public- evolution is not something you “believe” in- it’s a fact.  Do you “believe” in trees?  Flowers? DNA? All of those things are just as real as evolution.  </science teacher mode>

Anyway, the Vatican also knows this and is, in fact, having a conference next month on evolution- cool!
